Platform Engineer

Your Mission

As a Platform Engineer, you will help us to design, develop and operate a highly scalable virtual development and testing environment. The environment will enable faster development lifecycles and highly automated testing for our 10000+ strong Edge platform production deployments.

Working in our Build Engineering team your responsibilities will include a hybrid virtualized development and test environment and CI/CD pipelines used to deploy infrastructure to that environment.

Additionally, you will support the product and enabling technology engineering teams in migrating to and using the new environment and establish best practices around the environments use.

This position will give you the responsibility for small to midsize projects, right from the concept phase all the way through to production deployment and operations.

Your Qualifications

• ETH, university, or FH degree in Computer Science or similar educational level
• Hands on experience and knowledge of a programming language
  (Golang, Python, Java/Typescript, Java)
• Basic knowledge of Linux or a UNIX based operating system
• Fuent in English

Additionally one of the following:

• experience with Infrastructure as Code in some form
  (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• experience with deploying and/or operating services in a major cloud environment
  (Azure, AWS or GCP)
• experience with a virtualization platform
  (OpenStack, VMware, etc.)

Bonus skills and qualifications:

• hands on experience with CDK (Cloud Development Kit)
• know-how in networking and the major Internet protocols
  (TCP/IP, IPsec, SSL, SSH, SMTP, HTTPS, DNS)
